Coder confession

I have
checked all! ALL, I swear!
Give me another one…
Of course, we are used to send newsletters. I even created checklists, so everything is going fine, you know. But this morning, I was not feeling well, I dunno, like a premonition, you know? Like when you wake up and think “Today is going to be a bad day”, you know?
Hum
So, what did I do? I checked EVERYTHING. I sent at least eight tests mails, two colleagues reviewed my script, because we’re speaking here about a newsletter sent to 3 million people, you just can’t fail, you know? It’s not everyone who send newsletters to 3 million people, huh?
Well, 3 whiskies, it’ll make… 18.30€.

Bah! It went wrong. Guy, 3000000, you know what they got? The dudes, they received “Hello NULL!” … This is not a joke, they opened their email this morning and we said them “Hello NULL!”. There are 3 million guys who saw that we were not able to code a poor variable assignment and a proper check. I do not even know how we didn’t see that in the tests … A mistake like that, you pay a lifetime huh? How much am I gonna pay for that? How much?
